Take it easy on yourself. These 105 degree days make 98 seem like jacket weather if you get out in it enough. Of course, pace be damned in this heat is the unfortunate truth. No wonder marathons aren't scheduled in the Summer. All my quality runs (not the long runs, though) are done on the...dreadmill, since they're not quality in 105 or even 80 degrees + 120% humidity. The bad news is you're going to lose all the heat acclimation in CO, but I wouldn't trade that nice, cool, DRY weather for this stuff.LKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09930972661895030336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17085373226210005.post-28368544069265339022011-07-26T09:52:53.056-05:002011-07-26T09:52:53.056-05:00Hey Derek. What I usually do is start pushing the pace on some of the shorter midweek runs about 6-8 weeks out. I find that flows into my long runs and builds me up psychologically to run a faster pace on race day. Kind of linear periodization to peak at just the right time.Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17252702482054642021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17085373226210005.post-81293824207809171362011-07-25T13:35:46.869-05:002011-07-25T13:35:46.869-05:00I'm signed up for San Antonio, so now it's...I'm signed up for San Antonio, so now it's time for me to find a little speed between now and then. The good news is that I got a good base with 4 50ks and one marathon I've already run this year. What's the best way to get my speed up? Any suggestions?Derekhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07781696569487384181noreply@blogger.com
